HOMERO ORTEGA HISTORY

THE COMPANY

Homero Ortega is a company that produces Panama Hats and other straw products. In its fifth generation the Ortega family is dedicated to this activity which makes them the oldest and most experienced company in the production and export of Panama Hats.

Homero Ortega seeks to generate socioeconomic development in Ecuador and highlight its craftsmanship in the global context. It is also important to note that biodegradable elements play an important role in the production of our products, helping to conserve the environment.

THE FOUNDER

The life of the founder of the company, Homero Ortega, was focused on the production of the straw hat. From his childhood he was dedicated to this activity, learning it from his father Aurelio Ortega García. Together they ventured along the “El Cajas” route to the port of Guayaquil, where they sold their hats “on board”, to the merchants who took them to Panama.

THE EXPANSION

Throughout the 20th century, the company consolidated and expanded. Its success lies in the ability to adapt to the different scenarios of the world market, to the design of the straw hat as a sublime form of popular expression, and to the emphasis on production with quality and customer satisfaction. We have ISO 9001-2008 quality certification for the design, production and export of toquilla hats and related articles.
